Business Strategy as Code

A transformation method that speaks for itself

A live, small-cohort advisory programme for professionals moving into digital transformation — walk away with one traceable artifact that proves your thinking anywhere.

No output without a traceable input.

See how it works

  1. Before

Decisions you can’t fully retrace — hard to explain, harder to defend when challenged.

  2. During · the programme

You code every conclusion back to the evidence it came from.

  3. After

A strategy you can audit and defend on demand — a repeatable system you own.

← traced to the raw fact it came from

“The first strategy material I’ve seen that treats strategy the way engineers treat code.”

Pavel Veinik, Founder, Hard & Soft Skills

“It was a total mind-blower in the best possible way… This chain of frameworks gave me absolute clarity.”

The method, in one picture

Strategy you can trace — every decision back to its evidence

In software, no value appears from nowhere — you trace it back through the code that produced it. Strategy works the same way here: every conclusion cites the evidence it came from. Here’s a single decision, traced to the fact it rests on:

The decision

“Move upmarket to enterprise.”

a strategic option — chosen, not guessed
a strength you already own — your unused data
the raw market fact it rests on
Read it top to bottom — every decision cites the evidence beneath it. No output without a traceable input.

Led by Aliaksei “Alex” Ivanouski — MBA with Distinction (Bayes Business School), CTO Programme (National University of Singapore), AI: Business Strategy & Applications (University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business) — a fractional CTO who builds systems for a living.

You’ll leave able to build and defend your company’s strategy on demand — because every decision traces across the flow back to the evidence behind it. It’s a repeatable system you run again, not a one-off you’ll forget — because you didn’t invent it, you built it.

Who This Is For

Built for people who want rigor, not reassurance

This is for you if

  • You are stepping into bigger transformation work — as a PM, BA, consultant, or architect — and you want a method that makes your thinking defensible at that level.
  • You can feel the lack of a system behind your decisions, and you want to invest in how you think — structured thinking you can reuse, not another one-off fix.
  • You are a corporate professional who wants to build strategy that survives scrutiny — not slideware that dies in a drawer.
  • You've had to defend a decision in a room where “trust me” wasn't enough — and you don't want to be caught without the evidence again.
  • You respect rigor: you would rather be shown the evidence than be sold the conclusion.
  • You want a method you can reuse on every future decision, not a one-time answer.

This is not for you if

  • You need to move a number by this Friday — this installs a durable way of thinking, not a quick tactic that pays off this week.
  • You want a motivational keynote or a “10 growth hacks” listicle.
  • You want someone to hand you the answer without doing the work of building the argument.
  • You are looking for a passive, self-paced video library to watch at 2x and forget.
  • You need an academic survey of every strategy framework ever published, decoupled from a real decision.
The Problem / Why Now

You have been scaling on intuition

It worked — until the stakes got big enough that being wrong is expensive.

Here is the pattern. The strategy deck looks impeccable: a PESTEL here, a SWOT there, a positioning statement, a roadmap. But underneath, nobody can answer the only question that matters — how do we know? Which claim is grounded in a customer fact, and which is grounded in a confident assumption someone made on a Tuesday? When you cannot separate the two, you cannot pressure-test the plan before the market does it for you.

That is the difference between a strategy and a stack of matrices with opinions inside. A strategy that cannot show its trace is not a strategy — it is persuasion wearing a framework's clothes.

Why now: the cost of an untraceable strategic bet compounds. Retention slips, a category shifts, capital gets more selective — and “we had a good feeling” stops being an acceptable answer to a board, an investor, or a leadership team. The discipline that makes engineering reliable — no output without a traceable input — is exactly the discipline strategy has been missing. This programme installs it.

What You'll Be Able To Do

By the end of the programme, you will be able to

  • Frame the one dominant problem worth solving — before generating a single strategy — and grade the evidence behind it.
  • Trace every strategic conclusion back to coded evidence, so any claim can be audited from artifact to raw fact.
  • Run the full framework chain — external scan, internal capability, choice, articulation — as one connected argument, not fifteen disconnected exercises.
  • Write a positioning statement that is falsifiable: specific enough to be proven wrong, which is the only kind worth having.
  • Translate a business strategy into a digital transformation strategy without falling into buzzword vision.
  • Build an implementation plan with real benefits management, a living risk register, and adoption you can actually measure.
  • Defend the whole chain to an investor, a board, or a skeptical team — because every link shows its work.
The Method — Business Strategy as Code

One rule runs through everything

No output without a traceable input. every strategic conclusion cites the codes it was derived from — click any statement, trace it back to the raw fact

In software, you never ship a value that appeared from nowhere — you can trace it back through the code that produced it. This programme applies the same discipline to strategy. Every piece of evidence gets a code (a market fact, an internal capability, a competitive force). Every strategic conclusion cites the codes it was derived from. The result is an auditable argument: your final strategy reads like a stack trace, and you can click any statement all the way back to the raw fact that justifies it.

The whole programme runs end-to-end on one fictional running case — Ledgerline Analytics, a $40M-ARR B2B SaaS whose net revenue retention has fallen from 112% to 94%. That single problem drives all four sessions, so you see the chain connect — not fifteen frameworks in isolation, but one continuous argument from problem to execution. Between sessions, you run the same chain on your own real business.

# Session Focus Key frameworks Duration
Ch.1 Problem Statement Frame the dominant problem before strategy Rumelt's kernel · SCQA · McKinsey Problem Statement Worksheet · Evidence grading 90 min
Ch.2 Business Strategy — the complete chain 15 stops across 4 acts: Outside · Inside · Choose · Articulate PESTEL · Porter Five Forces · VRIO · McKinsey 7S · SWOT→TOWS · Blue Ocean Canvas + ERRC · Falsifiable positioning · Value Proposition fit · Business Model Canvas · 4 Strategic Pillars 240 min
Ch.3 Digital Transformation Strategy "Digital strategy is not a separate strategy" (MIT CISR) Falsifiable digital vision · Target Operating Model · Capability map · Value × feasibility prioritization · Delivery waves · North-Star metric tree · Governance 240 min
Ch.4 Implementation, Risk & Change Execute the strategy — and realize the benefit Benefits management (MSP/Cranfield) · Pre-mortem + living risk register · Stakeholder diagnosis · Sponsorship · Adoption measurement · Governance cadence 240 min

Every session ships with a per-chapter, interactive CODE-REGISTRY and the fully worked Ledgerline example. Click any decision and every connection back to its evidence lights up — so you always see the trace, not just the conclusion.

What This Is / Isn't

Rigor, not content volume

This is This isn't
A live, expert-led working session — you build alongside Alex A passive video library you watch alone and forget
A method you reuse on every future decision A one-time answer or a pile of filled-in templates
One connected chain, built on a single running case A disconnected survey of frameworks with no thread between them
Strategy as a discipline of evidence — every claim shows its trace Strategy as persuasion — a stack of matrices with opinions inside

This is why the price is what it is. You are not buying content volume — content is everywhere and mostly free. You are buying rigor, live access to the person who built the method, and a chain you can defend.

Who leads it

The person who built the method

Aliaksei "Alex" Ivanouski, Fractional CTO & Founding Engineer
Aliaksei "Alex" Ivanouski
Fractional CTO & Founding Engineer

Aliaksei “Alex” Ivanouski is a Fractional CTO & Founding Engineer, and the person who built the Business Strategy as Code method applied in this programme.

Alex started as a military engineer, where he learned the things that outlast any single tool: discipline, systematic problem-solving, and thinking in whole systems. He moved into software and spent 10+ years building products across fintech, adtech, social platforms, and large-scale backend systems — most often taking a rough idea and shaping it, step by step, into something people actually rely on.

Today he works at the intersection of business and technology: helping companies get clear on what to build, then designing and developing the systems that turn that clarity into a working product. He talks as easily with founders as with engineers, and spends most of his time bridging the two.

Why does an engineer lead a strategy programme?

That background is the whole reason this method exists. An engineer cannot ship a result that appeared from nowhere — every value has to trace back to the code that produced it. Alex brings that same non-negotiable — no output without a traceable input — to strategy, where it has been missing. His MBA gives him the strategy vocabulary; his engineering career gives him the discipline to make that vocabulary auditable rather than decorative.

What credentials back the method?

A lifelong student, Alex keeps studying strategy and emerging technology at the source, and folds what works into the method:

  • Bayes (formerly Cass) Business School, City St George’s, University of London — MBA (with Distinction) — the formal grounding in business strategy the method is built on.
  • National University of Singapore — Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Programme — executive training in leading technology strategy at the top table, reinforcing the bridge between business strategy and execution this programme is built on.
  • Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley — Executive Education: AI: Business Strategies and Application — sharpening how AI reshapes strategic choice, which directly informs the digital transformation chapter.
  • University of Nicosia — MSc, Blockchain & Digital Currencies — deep-tech fluency that keeps the “as code” rigor honest and current.
Outcomes & Proof

Adopted by an organization that trains architects and CTOs

Our founding cohort was Hard & Soft Skills — an organization built by engineers for engineers that has taken 450+ experienced developers, tech leads, and architects through its programs, including its CTO and Solution-Architect tracks. They adopted the method and are now implementing it inside their own organization. That was cohort one; we're now opening the second.

“I've just worked through a two-part Business Strategy series by Aliaksei Ivanouski. It's the first strategy material I've seen that treats strategy the way engineers treat code — my favorite Business as Code method. Most strategy decks are a stack of matrices with opinions inside. Alex's series is built on one rule instead: no output without traceable input. Every claim cites the coded evidence it was derived from, so conclusions read like stack traces, and you can click any statement all the way back to a raw fact. As someone who has trained 400+ software architects, I value this most: it converts strategy from a genre of persuasion into a discipline of evidence. A strategy that cannot show its trace is not a strategy. Rare work. Highly recommended to founders and CTOs alike.”

“It was a total mind-blower in the best possible way. Before this, so much of what we did was based on intuition, and it was hard to connect the dots in a logical, fact-based, transparent way. This chain of frameworks gave me absolute clarity. Now I see exactly how to build a strategy that drives real results and solves actual problems, rather than just sitting around as a beautiful piece of paper.”

Pricing & Engagement

Three seats, one method — the price differs only by your level of access to Alex

Think of it against the alternative. One untraceable strategic bet — a mis-timed market entry, a positioning that never lands, a transformation that stalls — costs a scaling company far more than any fees here, in quarters lost and capital burned. This is the price of installing the discipline that keeps your strategy from being blind.

Three seats, all with the same four live sessions and the same method. They differ by how much direct access to Alex you want — not by content volume.

Second Cohort · Cohort 2

These are Cohort 2 early prices only. Once these five seats fill and the cohort runs, prices will be different for the next cohort.

Tier What you get Price Early-bird (−10%)
Core Seat All 4 live group sessions — no individual review or 1:1 access $1,000 $900
Recommended Applied Seat Everything in Core, plus Alex's written review of your own coded strategy chain $1,900 $1,710
1:1 Strategy Seat Everything in Applied, plus a private 2-hour 1:1 working session with Alex $2,900 $2,610

100% money-back guarantee

Let us know via your registered email any time before Session 2 begins — full refund, no questions asked, no processing fee. If the method isn't for you, you don't pay for it.

  • Early-bird −10% applies to the first three of five seats — a real, limited allocation, not a resetting timer. Once those three are taken, standard pricing applies.
  • Start & schedule: the cohort begins as soon as all five seats are filled. You choose your track: a Weekend track (Saturday & Sunday sessions over two weeks) or a Weekday track (Tuesday & Thursday evenings over two weeks).
  • Payment: full upfront by default. An optional 2-installment plan is available at the standard price (no discount, no surcharge).

FAQ

Questions before you apply

How much time does this take?

Four live sessions total: 90 minutes for Session 1, then 240 minutes each for Sessions 2 through 4, plus parallel work applying the chain to your own business between sessions. Choose a Weekend track (Saturday and Sunday) or a Weekday track (Tuesday and Thursday evenings), both completed over two weeks.

Budget a few focused hours per session if you want to get real value from applying the method to your own decisions, not just follow along.

Do I need a strategy background or prerequisites?

No formal strategy background or prerequisites are required. The programme builds the entire chain from the problem statement upward, working through each framework as you need it. If you currently run a business, or help run one, you already have the raw material the method needs — the programme supplies the rigor and structure on top of what you bring.

I'm not technical — is "strategy as code" going to lose me?

No. "As code" is a discipline, not a coding requirement. You will never write a line of software. The engineering idea we borrow is simply this: no conclusion without a traceable input. If you can follow a footnote back to its source, you can follow this method.

Is this for individuals, teams, or companies?

All three. The programme is offered as individual seats — each participant takes part in building the strategy chain as code for the worked-example company, and will afterward be able to apply the method to their own business. Bring colleagues by applying for multiple seats together, or request a dedicated corporate plan for your organization, tailored and delivered privately to your team.

Reach out to Alex directly to discuss scope, scheduling, and pricing for a corporate plan.

What's the refund policy?

Full refund if you withdraw any time before Session 2 begins — no questions asked, no processing fee. Once Session 2 has started, the seat is considered committed and is no longer refundable. It's the simplest way we know to say we stand behind the method and the outcome.

This mirrors the programme's broader refund policy: full refund before Session 2, seat committed after.

Is it really live, or recorded?

It's live and expert-led. Alex runs every session in real time, and you build the strategy chain alongside him as the session happens — not a pre-recorded programme. Session recordings are provided afterward so you can revisit the material, but the core value is in the live working sessions themselves.

Recordings are yours to keep alongside the slide decks and materials.

Strategy you cannot trace is strategy you cannot defend.

You already know how to move fast on judgment — it's how you got here. This is how you make the next set of bets defensible: a method that shows its work, built on your real business, with every conclusion traceable to the evidence underneath it.

The second cohort hasn't opened yet — five seats, early pricing before it rises. Join the waitlist to get the date the moment it's set.

Is this for you?

  • You lead or advise a company and make real strategic calls — not just study them.
  • You want a live, small-cohort working session (max 5), not a passive video library.
  • You can commit to all four live sessions.
  • A $1,000–$2,900 investment fits your professional-development budget.

If that's you, join the waitlist — or request a call if you'd rather talk it through first. He reviews fit and gets back to you personally, within 24 hours.
